Bayswater Road

This project was for an internal renovation of a Strata unit, within a converted Motel. The Apartment was previously the Hotel Mangers Suite, so it included additional floor area that was previously used as a small reception area.

As the client liked to cook, the kitchen was a key focus of the design, as the existing had no connection to the Living/ Dining room, the owner felt very disconnected when entertaining. Hence the key intervention was to increase the opening by shifting the doorway and bring the bench right up to the dining area. This also provided us with the additional under bench space to include a combined washer dryer in the service end of the space.

In the Bathroom, we where restricted by the existing dimensions, so we decided to keep the colour pallet simple as to visually maximise the space.

In the Bedroom and the Living/ Dining room, there was a popcorn ceiling and carpet on the floors, we decided to put a suspended plasterboard ceiling throughout as to add new downlights and modernise the feeling of the space. This was complemented by the addition of Plantation Shutters as to provide shade and privacy (as this was directly above a row of shops)
