Glebe Point Road

Shop top addition to an existing pair of commercial terraces on Glebe Point Road, in the City of Sydney Council Area. This project is in the Concept Stage, and has gone through a number of iterations since the initial concept. The key requirements are to provide a full residence above, while retaining a commercial tenancy on the ground floor. The council requirements have dictated some of the features, however the current proposal will likely need further development with the Town Planners.

The clients key aims are to provide an updated facade, within the heritage context. Along side this they want to have a modern rear that can allow for access to all members of their family, so designing around a lift shaft was a necessity. In addition to this, we wanted to provide a series of outdoor spaces at the various levels, so that the family never feels as if they are trapped within an apartment and more just on a different level of the house.

The introduction of curved features is intended to provide a clear delineation between the original building and the proposed additions.
