Turner Avenue

This project was for an addition and alteration to heritage dwelling in Haberfield. The client wanted to retain the existing character of the building, while modernising it for their growing family. This resulted in the proposal to relocate the bedrooms to the existing front of the house and open up the rear room into a combined Living/ Kitchen/ Dining Space that would open up to the backyard where the owners had recently built a new in ground swimming pool.

The design for the rear facade was intended to reference the front of the house, with a gabled roof over the dining area as to pop it out from the rear roof. Where the entry verandah is at the front, we have reference this with our deeper rear varandah that utilised an external kitchen (BBQ) to provide seperation with the yard, and an all weather outdoor entertaining area.
